Pediatric diarrhea is one of the leading causes of death among the developing world’s children, killing approximately two million each year. Rotavirus alone is estimated to take the lives of 500,000 children annually.
Kissito Healthcare International has been working with the world’s foremost expert on pediatric diarrhea, Dr. Herbert DuPont of the University of Texas-School of Public Health, to put stop to this ongoing tragedy. Our hope is that the fruits of this collaboration will eventually lead to a vaccine for Rotavirus. Read more
Uganda National News: Success Comes At A Price
Kissito’s Chief Medical Officer in Uganda, Dr. Edward Sabiiti, was interviewed on Uganda national television news about Kissito’s struggle to keep up with the overwhelming demand for high-quality free medical services. From 20-30 patients seeking care less than a year ago, Kissito’s Bugobero Health Center IV is now seeing anywhere from 300-400 patients per day. Watch the news clip here
